Summer Show 2022
Froxfield and Privett Garden Club held their Summer Show on Saturday 20th August. Chairman Sue Kinlochan complimented everyone on the standard and number of the entries particularly given the lack of rain over the previous two months.
The total number of entries was similar to 2021, but with more fruit and vegetables and fewer flowers. However, the dahlia and flowering shrub classes were popular as these had coped well with the hot weather.
In the cookery classes the Lemon Curd Layer Cake was a popular choice, but the trophy for the best cookery exhibit was won by Jan Cole for her blackcurrant jam.
Many of the cups went to previous winners of the trophies, but it was pleasing to congratulate Andrea Povey on winning the Ladies Friendship Group Container and Hanging Basket competition at her first attempt.
Chairman Sue Kinlochan won the Banksian medal for the most point in the horticultural classes at both the Spring and Summer shows by a narrow margin.
Froxfield Primary School children drew pictures of their favourite plants, whilst the Pre School children made interesting clay models. The children from Privett Montessori Nursery had been looking at dinosaurs and produced their interpretation in a variety of media.
