Our Garden Club
We are a group of keen and passionate gardeners who share an interest in gardens, gardening and the natural environment. Although there were Horticultural Shows in Froxfield from the 1860s to the early 1900s and occasionally later, the idea of a Horticultural Society was formed in 1983 by the then Vicar, Rev. Ben Forster, as he knew that there were a number of keen gardeners in the parish. It was a way of uniting the two villages, Froxfield and Privett, which had been two separate ecclesiastical parishes but became one in 1975.
Today we are a very active and progressive Garden Club with members ranging from those who are very experienced and knowledgeable to young complete beginners who would like to know more and become better gardeners. Nature and the natural environment forms an increasingly important part of our agenda and learning how we can garden in a more sustainable way.
Something for Everyone
Our activities are wide and varied. They include interesting talks from knowledgeable speakers, practical demonstrations, private garden visits, Spring and Summer Shows and local open gardens. We are a flourishing Club and all our activities are very well supported by members and visitors from Froxfield and Privett and the surrounding area.
